The City of New Orleans has announced an award of $12.5 Million in grant funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) program. The city applied for the money on behalf of homeowners who have experienced repeated flood damage.
The grant money will be used to elevate 50 homes that have already been identified. Of the houses to be raised, twenty-two properties are on the National Register of Historic Places.
